Saving a Child

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. We can all agree that child abuse is horrific. There are different forms of abuse. Domestic Violence in the home is one form of child abuse. When children witness violence in the home, they react in a variety of ways and adopt various coping skills to survive. Some examples are:

  • Physical : Sleep problems, headaches, stomach aches, frequent illnesses
  • Social: Distrustful, poor conflict resolution skills, difficulty making friends, avoiding going home
  • Behavioral: Acting out, withdrawn, bullying, bed wetting, thumb sucking, caretaking, low self esteem, running away, chemical abuse, pre-delinquent behavior
  • Feelings: powerless, guilty, angry, confused, afraid, isolated, anxious, ashamed

Each year, between 3.3 million and 10 million children witness domestic violence, and of those at least 40% will be abused themselves. Domestic Violence and abuse are not a private matter. It affects all of us, and it affects the children who cannot help themselves. If you see a behavior that suggests a child may be living in an abusive environment, you can be a positive role model, model non-violent problem solving, be present, be supportive, be a good listener.

Staying Alert with Prayer Raid!

On the first Wednesday of every month, the community warning sirens are tested at 1 pm. The purpose of this test is to keep the system ready for severe changes in weather and the world’s climate. When you hear the sirens, remember that there is a faithful group of people joining in prayer at the Redeemer Covenant Church.

Prayer Raid!  |  April 1 at 1 pm  |  Memorial Room

We will spend time in prayer for our church, community, nation, and the world. As we are preparing for the celebration of Easter and Christ’s resurrection, we will continue our prayer for the persecuted church. However, this month we will first view a report, Underground Christian Movement Building in Mideast, which details the solid growth of the Christian Church in areas that are under the greatest persecution. Come and learn what the 8:38 prayer movement is all about! Join the Prayer Raid team!

Preparing for Easter

Holy Week at Redeemer will prepare our hearts for Christ’s Restoring Touch!

Good Friday, April 3 – 7Three Crosses:30 pm
We will gather in the Upper Room with Christ to remember the Last Supper. From here we will follow Christ’s journey to the garden of prayer, his arrest and trial. This will be a special evening of music by the choir, along with Scripture readings to retell the events of Christ’s passion. The evening will end with the message from Luke 22:38-46, “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly.” Christ has touched each of us by letting his body be broken and his blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins. Come and contemplate his great atoning sacrifice on our behalf.

Easter Sunday, April 5 – Morning Worship at 8:45 am and 11 am
This will be a great morning to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Through Scripture, hymns and special music by the choir and worship team, we will celebrate the resurrection of Christ, which has brought “Healing! Once and for All." This is a day to give God praise for the victory over death and the grave. Jesus says, “I Am the Resurrection and the Life.” We join at the empty tomb and say, “He is Risen. He is Risen Indeed!” Come and be strengthened in your faith. Give an invitation to a friend or family member to join you for this power-filled Sunday.

Business Isn't Boring!

The Spring Congregational Meeting on Sunday, April 19, 6 pm is a great opportunity to reflect on God’s many blessings in the life of Redeemer Covenant Church! We will start the evening with praise and worship then end with pie. What could be better! We will share highlights from our ministry in 2014, as we look forward to what God has in store for us in 2015.

If you are a member, we need your help to conduct the business before us. If you are a friend of Redeemer, we welcome you to share in the fellowship and hear more of what God is doing at Redeemer. Come and celebrate with us!
