Learning About God

Disciple U classes at 10 am - September through May

  • Even the kids (ages 2 through 6th grade) can be students of God's Word, the Bible
  • Classes are divided by age group so that teaching, music, art, and activities can emphasize biblical truths geared for children.
  • Ages 2-5 meet in Cubbies room (room 9), K-3rd grade in AWANA room (room 8), 4th-6th grades in room 15

Bible Blast at both Sunday morning services

  • Children stay with their parents for the beginning of the church services and then are invited to go to their own worship time called Bible Blast, designed especially to keep their attention through Bible teaching and hands-on activities.
  • 8:45 am: Ages 3 (by September 1) through 3rd grade meet in the AWANA room (room 8)
  • 11 am: 3-5 year olds meet in the AWANA room (room 8), K-3rd grade in room 15, 4th-6th grades in room 11

Lessons for February

Children from birth to 5 years old are introduced to the majesty and power of God through lessons designed for their own age group:

  • Basic Truth: Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
  • Bottom Line: I love God.
  • Memory Verse: “Love God with all your heart” (Matthew 22:37, NIV)

The kindergarten through 6th grade students are learning that God's Family has the best reasons to rejoice: we know who God is and realize what he has done for us! We are studying God's People Celebrate, a yearlong curriculum that helps children explore how God's people—around the world and throughout time—have celebrated and still celebrate God's gifts to us..

As your children bring home weekly lesson papers and crafts, take time to review and reinforce the Bible verses as you apply them in your family's life together.

A Message from Amy

Dear Parent/Guardian,

The new spring 2012 unit in Bible Blast includes 13 lessons explaining the concepts of prayer in an exciting and interactive way and will give children an opportunity to build lifetime habits of prayer. Your child will explore why and how people pray and will practice prayer in small groups.

Discipleship Jr. uses the imPACT model of prayer to help children understand the four important activities of prayer: praise, ask, confess, and thank. Here are some discussion questions you may use at home to reinforce your child’s growing desire to talk with God:

  • Praise. Ask your child: What do you really like about God? Listen to the responses. Then say: Let’s tell God we like these things about him. Encourage your child to tell God directly what he or she likes about him.
  • Ask. It’s important for children to know that God cares about their needs. We can ask God to help our families, our friends, and us with any problems. He wants everyone to ask him for what they need. Ask: What would you like to ask God? Let your child name some prayer requests. Then say: Let’s tell God about these needs. Take turns praying for these needs.
  • Confess. Tell your child that we all do things we wish we didn’t do. Sometimes our actions or words hurt someone, and then we’re sorry. Ask: What’s one thing that you wish you hadn’t done this last week? Listen to the response. Then say: Let’s confess our sin to God and tell him we’re sorry. Together, bow heads and confess this sin before God.
  • Thank. Ask: What are some things that you’re thankful that God has done for you or has given to you? Listen to the responses. Then say: Let’s tell God “Thank you” for these things. Take turns thanking God.

Your child will receive a ZipLine home-connection page for each lesson, designed to support the Bible Truth for that day. These pages include fun activities, a Bible memory verse, and a prayer challenge. Some of the activities invite the involvement of the whole family. Encourage and help your child to complete these activities and bring the signed Club Pass the following Sunday.

If you have any questions about this study, please feel free to ask. We’re excited about what God is going to do in the lives of our children.
